Troubleshooting
- Check that SyncFolder is running on the PC and that the Mobile Access & Sharing service is turned on.
- Check that your device and the PC are on the same network. A guest Wi-Fi network often blocks devices from seeing each other.
- Tap Connect via QR code and scan the QR code from the PC.
- Check that Automatic background updates is enabled in the task, and that Disable periodic sync is off in Settings.
- Tasks with a NAS or a PC only run on Wi-Fi and when the NAS or PC can be reached.
- Allow SyncFolder to run without battery restrictions and allow notifications (see Permissions).
- Don't swipe SyncFolder away from the list of recent apps.
Android stops background apps to save battery. Allow notifications and remove the battery restrictions with Open App info on the server page. Some phone brands have extra battery savers. Look for SyncFolder in the battery settings of your phone and exclude it from optimization.
The server only starts when a user name and password are set and at least one shared folder is added (see Mobile Sync Server). If a shared folder has lost its access permission, fix it first with Fix Folders.
- Check the IP address of the NAS. It may have changed. Give the NAS a fixed address in your router.
- Check that SMB file sharing (version 2 or higher) is enabled on the NAS.
- Check the user name and password, and that this account has access to the share.
This can happen after you change the task, after Reset, or when files at the destination were changed by someone else. Choose another File changes detection method if needed, or enable Scan destination on every sync (see Advanced task settings).
Frequently Asked Questions
A task only changes the Destination. Your phone's files are only deleted when this device is the destination of a One-Way Sync task, or when you choose Delete copied items after upload after an upload.
Copy only never deletes anything at the destination. One-Way Sync (Mirror) makes the destination an exact copy of the source, so files you delete from the source are also removed from the destination. See Creating a sync task.
Yes, unless you enabled Bypass Recycle Bin or the file was removed by an exclude filter. Look in the _sf/recyclebin folder inside the destination folder.
No. Between your device and a PC or NAS, files are sent directly over your local network. To find each other, the devices can use a secure SyncFolder internet service, but only to exchange address information. Files only go through the internet when you use OneDrive.
Yes, if you allow the app to access the location in your photos when it asks (see Permissions).
Use Export repository on the old phone and Import repository on the new one (see Settings). Then pair with your PC again and link your OneDrive account again.
Log File
If you report a problem, the log file helps us find the cause. Open the menu (â‹®) on the Home page and tap Log file.
- Turn on Enable detailed logging, reproduce the problem, and then open the log again.
- Tap the share button to send the log, for example by e-mail.
- Tap the refresh button to reload the log, and the delete button to clear it.
Turn detailed logging off again when you're done.
