Task Status
The Status page shows the result of the last run of a task, what was copied and deleted, and any problems that need your attention. Open it with Show status on the Tasks page, or by clicking a notification about the task.
Buttons
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Execute / Stop task | Runs the task now, or stops it while it is running. |
| Simulate | Runs the task without copying or deleting anything. |
| Configure | Opens the Task configuration page. |
| View deleted items | Shows the files and folders the task moved to its recycle bin. |
| Reset | Clears the task's cache so that it behaves as if it has never run. |
The ID and file locations section shows the task ID (with a copy button) and the source and destination locations.
Last Time Executed
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Task type | Synchronize (1-way), Synchronize (2-way), Copy, Cut and Move, or Group. |
| Execution type | Normal or Simulation, followed by what started the run: User, Scheduler, Session auto-sync (sign-in or lock), System startup, File system watcher, Portable device watcher or Command line. |
| Finished date and time | When the run ended. |
| Duration | How long the run took. |
| Number of source files | Files found at the source. For 2-way sync: Number of files (A | B). |
| Number of files copied | Files copied during the run. |
| Number of files deleted | Files deleted (or moved to the recycle bin). |
| Number of source files deleted | Cut and paste tasks: files removed from the source after copying. |
| Next clearance of the recycle bin | When the task's recycle bin is emptied next; or Is empty, Is never emptied, No recycle bin. |
| Result | The overall result, for example Success, copied: 12, deleted: 3. See Error Messages for all possible results. |
While the task is running, the page shows "The task is running. Results will appear here when the task has finished."
Actions and Issues
A log of everything the run did, grouped by type, for example:
- The following files were copied from … to …
- The next files were deleted in … / The next files were moved to the Recycle Bin in …
- The next folders were synchronized in …
- The next files have been modified in both locations and have not been copied (as configured) — conflicts of a 2-way sync task.
After a simulation the same lists use should have been wording. When there was nothing to do, you see for example "Source and destination were identical. No copy/delete actions were needed."
Problems found during the run, such as folders that were not accessible, items that could not be copied, or names that are not valid on Windows. When there are none: "The task has ended without any issues."
Only a limited number of lines is shown on the page. Click the button Show log in a document viewer app to open the complete list ("Not all lines are displayed. Click the 'Show in documents viewer' button to see them all.").
When a Task Needs Your Attention
Some results stop the task and wait for a decision from you. The Status page then shows one or more extra buttons.
Confirm Deletions (First Run of a 1-Way Sync)
Waiting for confirmation to delete files and folders. "One or more files in the destination location do not exist on the source (open the Actions panel to see them). With a 1-way sync task, the app needs to delete these files. This is the 1st time the job has been run with the configured location and therefore you need to approve it first. If this isn't what you expected, you'll need to set up a different type of task or a different target location."
Open Actions to check which files would be deleted. If that is correct, click Continue, deletion is allowed. Otherwise, change the task (for example to a copy task) or choose another destination.
Fewer Files Than Expected
When deletion protection detects that a location suddenly has far fewer files, the task pauses with Attention - fewer files than expected, sync paused. Choose:
- Restore - copy … files (…) back — if the files disappeared by accident (for example a drive was not mounted).
- Proceed - delete … files — if you removed the files on purpose.
The same decision is asked when a location of a 2-way sync task is completely empty: Attention - Storage location A appears to be empty (or B).
Conflicts (2-Way Sync)
When files were changed in both locations and the task is configured to report conflicts, the result ends with (needs attention!). Click Resolve conflicts to open the Resolve Sync Conflicts page.
