Uploading Photos, Videos and Files
With Upload now you can send photos, videos or other files from your device to a Windows PC running SyncFolder, without creating a task first. This is handy for a one-time transfer.
Tap the Upload now button at the top of the Home page and choose:
- Upload photos and videos to a Windows PC running SyncFolder, or
- Upload other files to a Windows PC running SyncFolder.
When you don't have any tasks yet, you can also use the Upload Photos and Videos and Upload files buttons on the Home page.
Upload Photos and Videos
- Select a media folder. Choose one of your Recent folders, a shortcut (All photos or All videos) or a folder under All folders.
- Select the items. Tap a photo or video to select it. Double-tap an item to select a range: all items from the nearest selected item before it (or from the start of the list) up to this one. Use the button at the top to select or deselect all items.
- Show only new items (optional). Switch the view at the top from All to Unsent to hide the items you already uploaded. Uploaded items are marked with a âś“.
- Choose the destination. Tap the button with the name of the computer and folder you used last to upload there again right away. Or tap (Choose destination) to select a computer and a folder.
Upload Other Files
- The Android file picker opens. Select one or more files.
- Select the computer (see Connecting to a Windows computer).
- Select the folder on the computer and tap Use this folder.
During and After the Upload
The Uploading items page shows the current file, the number of files done, the transfer speed and the remaining time.
- Tap Pause to pause the upload and Continue to resume it.
- Tap Cancel to stop. Files that were already uploaded stay on the computer.
- When the upload is finished, the page shows how many files were uploaded successfully. Any problems are listed under Errors.
After photos and videos were uploaded without errors, you can free up space on your device: check Delete copied items after upload and tap Delete. Only the items that were uploaded successfully are deleted. Android may ask you to confirm.
Check on your PC that the files arrived correctly before you delete them from your device.
Best Practices
- Regular backups: for photos you want to back up regularly, create a sync task with automatic background updates instead of uploading by hand.
- Keep the screen on: for a large upload, keep the app open until it's finished.
