Getting Started
This page explains how to install SyncFolder on your Android device, what you see the first time you open it, and how the Home page is organized.
Installation
Install SyncFolder from the Google Play Store. The app runs on Android 8.0 or higher.
If you want to exchange files with a PC, also install the SyncFolder app on your Windows computer (Windows 10 or higher).
First Start
The first time you open the app, the About SyncFolder page appears. It gives a short overview of what the app can do, and it has links to the Privacy statement and the Terms of service. Tap Start to continue to the Home page. This page is shown only once. You can open it again later from the menu (About this app).
After an update, a What's new message can appear with the most important changes. Check Don't show this message again if you don't want to see it at the next start.
The Home Page
The Home page shows two panels:
- Synchronize folders automatically: tap Add your first task to create a sync task (see Creating a sync task).
- Upload individual files: tap Upload Photos and Videos or Upload files to send files to your PC right away (see Uploading photos, videos and files).
The Home page lists all your tasks under Tasks. Each task shows its name, an icon for its sync mode, the source (From), the destination (To) and the result of the last run.
- Tap a task to open its status page.
- Tap the … button on a task to open its actions: Execute, Simulate, Status, Reset, Configure, Empty recycle bin (when available) and Delete.
- Tap Execute all at the bottom to run all tasks one after the other.
The buttons at the top of the Home page are:
- Add task (+): create a new sync task.
- Upload now: upload photos and videos, or other files, to a Windows PC.
- Open Mobile Sync Server: manage the built-in file server (see Mobile Sync Server).
The menu (⋮) at the top right contains:
- Log file: view, share or clear the app's log (useful when you report a problem).
- About this app
- User Guide: opens this guide.
- Settings (see Settings).
